Hoburne Torbay Holiday Park is just minutes from the sea at Goodrington, near Paignton, in the heart of the English Riviera. The gently sloping sandy beach has deckchairs, sunloungers and pedalos for hire. In Goodrington Sands there’s also a park with a boating lake, nature reserve and go karts, and along the edge of the sea runs a steam railway.
At Hoburne Torbay you can stay in one of four types of static caravan with two, three or four bedrooms, with bedding and electricity supplied free, and all the comforts of home, or in a standard caravan touring pitch. There’s a Costcutter store and a launderette on the Park, so there’s no need to do a big shop before you come and all needs are catered for. You can get a meal at the Bayview Restaurant, Bar & Sundeck, or the Beach Hut Snack Bar & Takeaway, or for faster snacks there’s the Porthole Kiosk.
There never needs to be a dull moment, as there’s plenty for every member of the family to be doing, from the Indoor Leisure Pool with its flume, sauna and steam room, or the heated outdoor pool during the summer months, to the adventure playground and the nature rail, crazy golf, mini bowls, the pool table and the amusement arcade.
Tiny tots can join in the fun with the Sammy Seahorse Club and play safely in The Reef, the soft indoor play area, and grown ups can work out in the new fitness room.
The English Rivierra stretches for over twenty miles of beaches, spectacular scenery, picturesque harbours and unique little villages. You’ll find good shopping and restaurants at Paignton and no shortage of cream teas anywhere, or you can go for an exhilarating walk on Dartmoor. There are car parks on the moor from which pleasant short walks are suitable for inexperienced walkers in the summer, but there are walks for all levels of experience.
Other paces to visit include Babbacombe Model Village, which has four acres of miniature gardens and scale models, Stonehenge, stately homes, football stadiums and railways and even a model city.
Woodlands Leisure Park has sixty acres of family to white knuckle rides and for rainy days many rides and slides are in a huge undercover area. There’s also a zoo-in-a-farm and large and small tractors to drive.
Paignton Zoo has thousands of animals and plants in settings ranging through savannah, desert, forest and the tropics. Visit Monkey Heights, venture through the crocodile swamp, and admire the kangaroos hopping around the hills.
Powderham Castle is set in the middle of a deerpark beside the Exe estuary. You can follow a guided tour through the rooms of the castle and learn about the family history. Outside you can walk in the Walled Garden Play Area and visit Pets Corner. Children will have fun in the adventure play castle and then can follow the nature trail around the grounds.
Holburne Torbay is in a wonderful area for places to go and things to see and do. You will probably enjoy your stay enough to want to go back fore more.
